Daxsonics is lead by Jeff Leadbetter, who steers the company toward creativity and innovation while maintaining the high standard of quality and attention to detail for which we are known.

Daxsonics is defined by the people who work here. We are proud of our group, our continually expanding skill set, and the expertise we can offer. We are lead by the Daxsonics founders who provide the company with direction and oversight, but each team member contributes in a meaningful way – as such, those that wish to share a little about themselves have done so below:

JEFF LEADBETTER PRESIDENT

Jeff has been the managing partner at Daxsonics since 2015, leading the company successfully through many key projects and fostering the culture that makes Daxsonics what it is today. Jeff’s expertise in Applied Mathematics, Acoustics, and Software Development have been pivotal in the development of our products and technologies. Today, Jeff continues to contribute knowledge to on-going projects, while developing the business strategies for successful company growth.

DR. JEREMY BROWN
FOUNDER

Jeremy contributes industry-leading ultrasound knowledge to Daxsonics, providing creativity and insight as a special advisor. His ability to develop simple solutions to complex problems has instilled in Daxsonics a mindset capable of handling the most challenging projects.

Continually contributing to the academic world, Jeremy’s research lab at Dalhousie University is developing novel applications for ultrasound devices in the pre-clinical and medical device industry. Jeremy plays a large role in professional development for Daxsonics employees, providing mentorship for those striving to learn more in the field of ultrasound.

DR. ROB ADAMSON
FOUNDER

A physicist by training with expertise in ultrasound, optics and acoustics, Rob supports Daxsonics’ efforts in system architecture, electronics and signal processing.  He applies his background in modeling, sensing and experimental design to the development of practical solutions for new applications of ultrasound for a diverse set of Daxsonics’ clients.  Rob is directly involved in many of Daxsonics’ projects providing technical leadership, advanced modeling and simulation work, and innovative approaches.


HUGO VIHVELIN
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING MANAGER

Hugo has a passion for electronics and the healthcare industry. He began working at Daxsonics after completing his Master's degree at Dalhousie University, where he studied under Daxsonics co-founder Rob Adamson. While at Dalhousie, Hugo focused on the use of ultrasound for wireless power transfer delivery to implanted medical devices. His work in this field received the 2015 Mitacs Award for Outstanding Innovation. At Daxsonics, Hugo is responsible for Account Management & Electrical Design. In these roles, he manages client projects, and develops medical device documentation and circuit board designs. Hugo's primary interests include high efficiency energy conversion, acoustic transducer simulation & modelling, and circuit design.

REUBEN THIBAULT
TRANSDUCER PRODUCTION MANAGER

An Electrical Engineering Technologist with several years’ experience in Metrology and Engineering Lab Management; he is well versed in the areas of testing and test data analysis as it relates to product development. He functions as the Lab Facilitator for Daxsonics and applies his technical background, experience and expertise to ensure that resources and equipment continue to meet the current needs of project development while at the same time preparing for future growth.

FRED SCHLEIFER
SYSTEMS ENGINEER

With a background in system, FPGA, analog, RF, and power-electronics design, Fred brings a wide range of industry experience to creating practical solutions for ultrasound generation, data acquisition, and signal processing. He enjoys solving challenging problems at all levels of product design including modeling theoretical system performance, designing discrete transistor circuits, defining interface protocols, and implementing complex FPGA designs.

DR. CHRIS SAMSON
SYSTEMS & SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MANAGER

Chris has expertise in ultrasound beamforming and electronics. He leverages his knowledge of acoustic field modeling, analog and digital electronics, signal processing, FPGA design, and PCB layout to meet the unique needs of ultrasound systems.

DR. REBEKAH MAFFETT
ULTRASOUND SCIENTIST

Rebekah joined Daxsonics after completing her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She brings a wide range of expertise in ultrasound technology including high volume rate 3D imaging, Doppler, phantom design and fabrication, as well as algorithmic development.  Rebekah has a passion for developing novel ultrasound solutions for a wide range of clinical problems.

DR. KATHERINE LATHAM
TRANSDUCER ENGINEERING MANAGER

Kate has expertise in transducer fabrication, imaging algorithm development, and acoustic field modeling. She has advanced the use of electrostrictive ceramics in row-column array transducers, having integrated various compounding and encoding techniques for fast 3D imaging. Kate has been pivotal in guiding the technical contributors of the transducer engineering team towards the successful completion of numerous projects.

JACKSON JENKINS, P.ENG
SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Jackson has an education in Computer Engineering with a background in automation design. In his current role, he is responsible for application development and software management.

Miranda is an integral part of Daxsonics' core management team, leading the administrative and HR activities of the company. She is responsible for the development and implementation of Daxsonics' internal policies and procedures as well as ensuring the company's corporate insurance, and tax obligations are met. Having been with Daxsonics since 2015, Miranda fosters an inclusive and welcoming workplace for all team members, facilitating all aspects of the employee life cycle.

RACHEL KIEFL, P.ENG
TRANSDUCER ENGINEER

Rachel has a background in physics, mathematics, and electrical engineering. Ultrasound development engages her interest in the intersection of electrical and physical signals, and the use of mathematics to accurately describe their behaviour.

JORDAN KAMGA
MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Jordan has an education in Mechanical engineering and finds joy working on interdisciplinary projects. He conducts research, designs, and develops machinery or parts for use with electronic equipment. He likes meeting new people, biking, and playing basketball.

JULIA COLLINS
PROJECT MANAGER

Julia graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2019 as an Ocean & Naval Architectural Engineer. She is currently working as a Project Manager and spends most of her time conversing with the team and clients to ensure projects run smoothly. She has taken an interest in process development as the company grows.

JEFF BETHUNE
VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & OPERATIONS

Jeff’s education and interest in Biology and Electrical Engineering have intersected perfectly at Daxsonics. Jeff has held many roles at Daxsonics, including transducer fabricator, process developer, and PCB designer. In his current role, he is responsible for ensuring Daxsonics systems and processes are continuously improving, as well as contributing to sales and business development.
